Helping to unlock human potential

If we look back, most of us can identify stand-out individuals who presented us with opportunities that ultimately changed the course of our lives. And when we start to put the pieces together and realize all the possibilities and outcomes that arose from each of those opportunities  – it can be overwhelming to imagine what might have been (or not been!) had each of those individuals not come along.

For me, one of these generous human beings is Kristi Herold. And when I attempted to express my overwhelming gratitude to her this summer, she graciously responded with the quotation below.

It’s a beautiful reminder of the roles we all play in unlocking human potential. Opportunities will continually present themselves to us over the course of our lives – but we must have the bravery to seize them. And when you become aware of the profound impact that walking through those doors has had on your life, it’s worth reflecting on how you are actively opening doors for others and supporting them in the brave act of walking through them. I love this quote from Seth Godin: “I see things differently when I’m focused on opening doors for other people, and more often than not, my doors are opened as well.”

Is there a person who changed the trajectory of your life by opening a door for you? Is there an open door you regret not walking through? What are some of the ways you are opening doors for others?
