Running for a worthy cause
Still on a high after participating in the 25th hashtag#SportingLife10K this Sunday in support of Campfire Circle 💙
What an unforgettable day: 23,000+ runners/walkers coming together and raising more than $2.4 million to help kids with cancer or serious illness and their families experience healing and happiness through camp programs.
My race in a nutshell:
🔷 As a fair-weather runner whose shoes tend to go into hibernation between November and April, I only managed to get one 7km run in before race day. That said, I set an ambitious goal to achieve my fastest 10KM time yet through mental grit.
🔷 I managed to achieve a personal best pace of 5:26 /km – although my Strava clocked 10.73 km which means I was zig-zagging a LOT along the route - a big opportunity for optimization next year!
🔷 Aftermath? Sore muscles and a headache (due to lack of discipline around post-race stretching and hydration!), but a heart overflowing with motivation to keep levelling up. We really can get fitter as we age, and I’d really love to commit to that. 🏃♀️✨
Huge congratulations to Alex Robertson (fellow North Toronto CI alum!) and the entire Campfire Circle team and sponsors for orchestrating a truly first‑class event. Your passion is contagious and the impact you create year after year is incredible.
To every fellow participant or spectator who cheered, encouraged, or simply shared a smile (or funny sign!) along the course, thank you for the positive vibes! This race has become a highlight of my year because of the warmth and enthusiasm of everyone in attendance.
Hope to see you at the start line on May 10, 2026! 🙌
